Jamba Juice Goes Bananas Over Hawaii's Wakiest Race on July 9, 2005 5th Annual 5K Banana Man Chase benefits Muscular Dystrophy Hawaii

WHAT: Jamba Juice 5k Banana Man Chase at Ala Moana Park (near McCoy Pavilion)

The Jamba Juice 5k Banana Man Chase is in its fifth year running...to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy Association of Hawaii (MDA) while putting on a fun event for participants who "chase" a bunch of runners sporting Jamba Juice banana costumes.

Race participants can run, walk, or stroll their way through the 3.1 mile (5k) course. The first three men and the first three women in each division to cross the finish line win a year's worth of Jamba Juice smoothies (valued at $240 per winner). In addition, five lucky winners that raise $50 or more will be randomly selected to also win a year's worth of smoothies.

After the race, there will be many more a-peeling things to enjoy, including: Innovative Magic by Kaulana; music by DJ Cool E; and balloon sculpting by Balloon Monsoon. One of the entertainment highlights is the crowd-favorite Banana Man Slide, performed by more than 100 Team Jamba members.

GOAL: MDA Hawaii is a voluntary national health agency that helps people with neuromuscular disease. The programs that MDA provides are funded almost entirely by individual private contributors, and the association receives no government grants. This year Jamba Juice hopes to raise $30,000 for MDA Hawaii. Since the first Banana Man Chase held in 2001, Jamba Juice has raised more than $92,000 for MDA Hawaii.
