Jamba Hawaii Introduces Two New “Bowls” & Will Donate Up To $10,000 from Protein Berry Bowl Sales to Hawaii Pedal Power

HONOLULU, HAWAII—March 10, 2010 — Jamba Hawaii introduces two new “bowls” to its current lineup of successful bowl products that are eaten with a spoon instead of sipped through a straw! The new Chocolate Strawberry Bowl and Protein Berry Bowl, exclusive to Hawaii, will be available at all Jamba Hawaii locations (excluding the UH Campus) starting Thursday, March 11th.

As part of their commitment to health, nutrition and fitness, Jamba Hawaii will donate 25 cents from every Protein Berry Bowl sold from March 11 to May 1, 2010 to Hawaii Pedal Power (up to $10,000). Hawaii Pedal Power is a coalition of partners that help create safer roads for bicyclists.  In May, Jamba and Hawaii Pedal Power join the rest of the country to celebrate National Bike Month that encourages people to bike to work, school, the store or visiting friends and family.  

Jamba Bowls have a thicker consistency than regular smoothies and are topped with a variety of toppings to create an appealing “chew factor” that customers crave. The new bowl lineup includes:

·       Chocolate Strawberry Bowl—A creamy treat of chocolate and strawberries topped with granola, fresh bananas and dark chocolate chips. Available in a 16 oz. bowl for $5.95 ($6.25 on neighbor islands) or a 24 oz. size for $6.95 ($7.25 on neighbor islands).

·       Protein Berry Bowl –Packed with protein, this blend of soymilk, peanut butter, bananas and blueberries, this bowl has everything you need in an after workout meal. Priced at $5.95 ($6.25 on neighbor islands) for a 16 oz. bowl and $6.95 ($7.25 on neighbor islands) for the 24 oz. bowl.

Jamba Hawaii introduced its first spooned item back in December of 2007 with the Acai Cup. The Acai Cup created a phenomenon of “spooned” items to follow including the development of the Chunky Strawberry and Granola Toppers, followed by addition of the Acai Primo Bowl, Hawaiian Acai Cup and Chunky PB `n Jamba.  The Acai Cup is now available as an Acai Bowl and features soymilk, Acai concentrate, bananas, strawberries and blueberries topped with organic granola and fresh bananas.
