(November 27, 2006) – Honolulu, Hawaii -- Jamba Juice and the Hawaii FoodBank have teamed up in the fight against hunger by launching the fourth annual “5-a-Day Keeps Hunger Away” program at Jamba Juice stores on Oahu (excluding UH location). Beginning December 1 until December 27, 2006 customers can receive a coupon for a free Original size (24 oz.) or Sixteen (16 oz.) Jamba smoothie by donating five cans* of fruits or vegetables at their neighborhood Jamba Juice store. Canned goods collected at Jamba stores on Oahu will be donated to the Hawaii FoodBank to help feed the 118,000 people served by the Foodbank each week. * Cans must be 12 ounces or larger. Cans cannot be accepted if they are rusted, dented or without labels. Small cans of tomato paste or tomato sauce will not qualify for a free smoothie.

“Our goal this holiday season is to surpass the 36,830 pounds of canned goods we collected last year,” explained John DeMarco, director of operations. “We’ve set an aggressive goal of collecting 42,000 pounds of canned goods statewide and we’re confident that our Jamba customers and employees will show their support to help feed Hawaii’s hungry.”

This marks the fourth year Jamba Juice and the Foodbank organizations on each island have partnered up to collect canned goods. Over the past three years, Jamba Juice has collected over 100,000 pounds of canned goods. Canned goods collected at Jamba stores on Maui, Kauai and the Big Island will be donated to the respective Foodbanks on each island.
